The investigation of classroom communication strategies used by English department lecturers

This case study is aimed at finding out the types of classroom communication strategies employed by English department lecturers during their teaching. In this study, three participated (HQ, RR, and SW in pseudonyms). They were for academic English, critical speaking, advanced reading classes. The instruments videotapes, observation guides, field notes, interview guides. After data collection process, analyzed using coding analysis interactive analysis. results showed that most direct circumlocution code-switching. HQ used 54 times code-switching 51 times; RR 21 32 times. major use indirect was comprehension check, which 47 28 HQ, 9 SW. Last, interactional strategy, filler strategy. it 19 times, 46 26 It suggested are expected to balance these maintain good teacher-student communication. However, adult learners (college students), found mostly lecture.
